Because these desks are so great, they come with hefty price tags.  The cheapest retail price I found was still $350.

But have no fear, you can create your own, with the help of Ikea, for much less.  Purchase their Vika Lerberg Trestles $10/each or Vika Lilleby Trestles for $15/each and spray paint them whatever color you want. Use a Krylon spray paint for a metallic finish.

Now for the glass top.  They sell these at Ikea as well.  Here is one for $40 called the Billsta Glass Desk Top.  They have various sizes and styles so you can get just the look you want.

Another alternative would be to look on Craigslist.  You may be able to find a cheap coffee table with a beveled glass top for even less!  Whatever you decide, you can end up with a stylish desk for less than $75.

What if glass isn't your style?  You can top it with a piece of wood as well and achieve a style like this from Ballard Designs.

Or you could even combine the looks and use an old door with a glass piece on top to give a smooth surface.
