I'm sure he'll be a great co-pilot :)
It will be a nice, long weekend with a fun schedule of events.
-Organizing a friend's closet (I LOVE organizing!...in case you couldn't tell from my last post)
-Craft time with the girls
-Race for the Cure 5k
-Happy hour with old friends
-And perhaps a surprise visit to see some people I haven't seen in quite awhile
I'm looking forward to it all!
I've made this trip many, many times over the years since Jon and I first started dating. So to help the trip be a little more enjoyable, I have a few things I always like to do. Many of which you can apply to your own road trips.
Buy new music for your ipod.
There's nothing like belting out your new, favorite tunes as you drive down the interstate.
Listen to your podcasts.
I don't know about you, but I'm rarely in the car long enough driving around town to listen to even 10 minutes of a podcast. But if you have a few hours to kill and are tired of listening to the same songs, switch to one of your podcasts. Before you know it, 45 minutes will have passed and you'll be that much closer to your destination.
Treat yourself to a yummy drink.
Whether you grab a can of your favorite soda before you leave the house or stop at the local coffee shop to pick up the seasonal hit, a little treat will help keep you amped up for the next few hours on the road.
Pack a snack.
To avoid food pitstops, bring a snack. The fewer the stops, the faster the trip.
Catch up with old friends.
So often our schedules are so busy that we don't even have time for phone dates with friends. When you're in the car with nothing but the open road ahead of you, you have no more excuses. Call up an old friend (hands free, if possible), and see what's new with them. You'll be amazed at how the time flies and how much you've been missing.
Take a look at the scenery.
Last but not least, try not to focus so much on the traffic jams and rude drivers that you miss all of the beautiful scenery you pass along your way. You might just be surprised by what you see!
Until next time...
