Jon and I had a wonderful weekend. I'd say it was a great mix of relaxation and productivity. We did our fair share of lounging around and watching movies, but also hit up the gym and cleaned the house. We also booked our 1-year anniversary trip (more on that in another entry)! We had my iPod blaring through the house on shuffle for the better part of yesterday while we were cleaning, cooking and eating dinner, and I must say, we should do that more often. There's nothing like enjoying living life to a soundtrack.
If you know me, you know that I enjoy all types of music--from classic rock to country to Christian to singer/song writer to rap (Jon calls me his little "Thuggish Ruggish" and finds it hysterical that I like rap music)-- I like it all.
While we were finishing up dinner last night the song "Stay Fly" came on my iPod, and Jon immediately got excited. He loves this song...mostly because it has the word "fly" in it, and he loves to fly. Occasionally, when he gets excited about something, he'll bust out singing the "Yee-a-aaah! Bom, bom bom, bom bom bom" from the start of the song. It always cracks me up. Knowing how much he loves the song, I jokingly asked him, "Would you like me to have this played at your funeral?" And without hesitation, he said "Yes! That would be awesome!" We both started laughing.
"Can you imagine?" I said. "Everyone sitting there all solemn and sad, mourning your death, and I approach the podium and say 'Jon had one last parting request, and it was that I play you this song...'and then, to everyone's surprise, this loud rap songs rings out over the speakers?!" Seriously, can you imagine? Oh the laughs and conversations we have :)
But enough about rap songs, check out the yummy dinner we were eating while being serenaded by Three 6 Mafia. And no, your eyes aren't playing tricks on you. That really is asparagus on my plate. Yes friends, I am branching out a bit and eating a new vegetable. In the spirit of full disclosure, I must tell you I only ate 3 of the 4 pieces on my plate though. But progress is progress. :)
