Locama Welcome Home-a

I feel like I'm finally getting back into the grove of things after a nice long weekend with some family and my first full week of being back home.  Now that my May weddings are done, I've been scratching things off of my much neglected To Do list.  And I'm happy to say I'm slowly making progress to get things back in order.  Hopefully that means more time for blogging!  I have so much to share with you guys, including all of the details on said weddings!

One of the things I've been able to mark as "done" was finding a new bedspread for our master bedroom. I mentioned the situation to you guys here and showed you some options I had in mind.  Well as luck would have it, I found one this weekend!  TJMaxx/HomeGoods is typically one of the spots my mom and I always hit up whenever she comes into town.  And since it was my sister's first time to visit what I refer to as "heaven on Earth" down here, there was definitely no way around it.

While my mom and sister were shopping in the bath section, I decided to check out the bedspreads to see what they had to offer.  Much to my surprise they had one of the bedspreads on my list!  It was the first listed on the above mentioned post.  But the happy moment ended quickly when I realized it looked much better, and more importantly brighter, online than it did in person.  A little deflated, I continued to look at what else they had and ended up finding one I liked even better!  And at $59.99, it was also cheaper than any option I'd found online.  HomeGoods strikes again!  It's a square patterned coverlet by a company called Locama Home Textiles.  I tried to see if I could find a link to it online for you guys online, but no luck.

The subtle pattern is just what I wanted, and I think it works well with my other pillows.

The weight is just right too.  Not too heavy, like a quilt might be, but still offering enough warmth to compensate for the two fans I have going every night :)

I kept the old duvet folded up at the end of the bed so that it's within reach if I do want some more cover, although I don't think that will happen any time soon with this Florida heat.

In the end, I think I got really lucky with this find, especially since it was the only one in the store.  Now I can sleep in peace, a nice cool peace :) 

On a side note, I have to share a few cute photos from this weekend.  My nephew Cohen came for a visit, so of course loads of picture taking ensued.  Here are some of my favorite shots of the little guy.

I hope you all had a wonderful, long weekend and also took some time to remember why we had it in the first place.  A big thanks goes out to my hubby and all of the other men and women who have given their lives or are currently risking them to ensure our freedom.   

Bedspread Options

When Jon and I lived in Oklahoma we bought a nice down comforter and white duvet for our bedding.  It was perfect for the cold weather up there, but now that we're in sunny Florida, it is too heavy.

So now I'm in the market for a quilt or coverlet to use during the warmer months here.  I want something with a little bit of pattern, and of course, it needs to be white.  I took to my ever-trusty Overstock.com to look for some options.  I've narrowed it down to three.  All three have great reviews and are moderately priced.  And I think they will all work with our current bedding.

I think I'm leaning toward the last one, but unfortunately it's out of stock at the moment.  Hopefully it will be back soon, and we'll have some new comfy and cool bedding!

Charleston Recap

Last night was a Joe Purdy night.  I had my itunes going on shuffle and "Andrea" came on.  After that, I was all about Joe.  I absolutely love his music.  It's beautiful, raspy and souful -- the quintessential rainy day music.  I've been listening to him for so many years that I have many memories attached to his songs.  Those are the best kind aren't they?  But I digress.

Speaking of memories... the real purpose of this post was to give you a recap of my Charleston trip back at the end of April.  It was all to celebrate this girl getting hitched!  We found it hilarious that we passed by this shirt on our way to dinner the first night. 

We started out our adventure by heading to Taco Boy in Folly Beach.  Here we are in the lobby before heading out to dinner.  The atmosphere at Taco Boy was great, and the food was quite tasty too!

The next day, we relaxed on the beach, which proved to be a great spot for people watching.  Let's just say there was a man in a hot pink speedo who would dance around the whole beach to a boombox on his shoulder that blared "Party Rock Anthem" by LMFAO over and over.  I don't think any of us want to hear that song ever again.  Ever.  After beach time, we got ready and headed into downtown to have dinner at Pearlz.  Another yummy place--good thing too since we sure had a wait!  Here we are outside of Pearlz with our Bachelorette garb in tow.

The next day was another beach day, but we headed to lunch first.  Rita's was just a walk away and since burgers and brunch were on the menu, we were happy campers.  I got the Pedro Cheeseburger with jalapenos...so yummy.  Other interesting eats were the Captain Crunch French Toast--Bekah swears it was delicious, and the Pimento Cheeseburger.  We all left full and happy!

Our last night out we all rode together into town.  In the words of Jessica, "we decided to take a party bus with one random black light...that's how we ride."  Haha.

That night we had drinks at The Cocktail Club, a very cool and laid back bar with dim lighting and exposed brick walls.  It reminded me of a Restoration Hardware ad if that gives you any indication.  For dinner, we went to O-Ku.  Another place with great food and a great atmosphere.  This girl is all about the atmosphere.

After dinner we headed out to The Rooftop Bar at The Vendue Inn where we enjoyed views of downtown like this...

We had a wonderful weekend filled with lots of laughs and memories!  Charleston was great, and there was so much to see, I think I'll have to make another trip!

Santa Rosa Beach Wedding

I'd say last week was another successful wedding week.  Brynnan and Michael had a beautiful ceremony at St. Rita Catholic Church in Santa Rosa Beach, FL and reception at Cabana Blue on the bay.  So many details reminded me of my own wedding day, so of course, I was in love with it all!  And I know you will be too.  I'll post more details on the flowers later, but for now, here's a little sneak!

Southern Wedding Sneak Peek

Laura and Kyle tied the knot this past Saturday at The Country Club of the South in Johns Creek, GA.  It was a pleasure decorating for their special day.  I don't have time to share all of the details just yet, but I had to give you a sneak peek!  Bow ties, moss and hydrangeas made this the perfect southern affair!  Congrats guys!

I'm off to my next wedding in beautiful Santa Rosa, FL tomorrow!

Davis Wedding

Jon and I attended a wonderful wedding this past weekend.  His friend, Miles, whom he's known since high school, married his dream girl, Merissa, at the Callanwolde Fine Arts Center in Atlanta.  It was a beautiful wedding for a beautiful couple!

There were lots of personal touches scattered throughout the wedding.  The bar featured a signature cocktail called the Blue Eyed Girl named for Merissa's baby blues.  Miles, who is an artist, put his talents to work by painting tiny canvases on miniature easels to display the table numbers.  He also painted one of their engagement picture poses onto a canvas for everyone to sign instead of a guest book.  Amazing!  Everything tied together so nicely...including the cake, which featured the same design that was on all of the invitations and signage.

Congratulations, guys!  Thank you for including us in your special day!

Nursery Update-A New Rug

My long weekend in Charleston was an absolute blast and only the start to my crazy travel schedule in May.  I got back home Monday afternoon and Jon and I will be leaving again tomorrow to attend a wedding in Atlanta this weekend.  This is the first of three weddings I'll be attending this month and the only one I won't be decorating.  It's going to be a crazy (and beautiful) ride!

Because of my busy schedule, I'm not sure how often I'll be able to update the blog, but I'll try to give you guys some peeks into the craziness as much as I can.

Today I want to share with you another update from the nursery in Dallas I've been working on.  When searching for a rug, I knew I wanted something simple, yet visually interesting.  After a little hunt, the winner became the Dhurrie Diamond Soho Rug in taupe and ivory.  The pattern is perfect and the natural tones work wonderfully with the color palette in the room.  Below is the photo of the rug that appeared online.  You'll see in the nursery photos that it appears a little darker in real life.  But thankfully, the darker tone still works well with the other elements in the room.

Now the only big piece that's left is the glider that will go in the bottom left of this photo.  After that, it's all about the finishing touches!
