California Part 1-San Francisco

Monday, August 27, 2012

Sorry for the delay, but things have been in full force here since Jon has returned home... and blogging seems to always fall at the bottom of the list.  We've been back from California for over a week, and I haven't even shared a thing with you guys!  So here's Part 1 of our journey to California...

In order to get to Napa, we had to fly into either Oakland or San Francisco.  We chose San Francisco and decided to spend a night there before heading up to Napa.

We had dinner at La Mar Cebicheria Peruana right on San Francisco bay, and it was delicious.

We stayed in the Embarcadero area of San Fran near the Ferry building and Financial District.

Our hotel, the Harbor Court Hotel, was right on the water and had a great view of the Bay Bridge.

Here's a shot of the hotel lobby.  The hotel offered complimentary wine and sangria from 5-6pm and cookies and ice cream from 9:30-10:30.  Needless to say, I was a happy girl.  The Harbor Court Hotel is a Kimpton Hotel, so everything was up to par.

This is an early morning view of the Bay Bridge from our hotel room window.  Gorgeous.

Our check-in at Napa was at 4pm so we didn't have a whole lot of time to see the sights of San Francisco, but we tried our best and spent several hours checking out the bay area.

One of the many piers.

 All of the boats at Fisherman's Wharf.

The weather was great... a far cry from the heat and humidity here in Florida, and although it was a quick day, we enjoyed San Francisco and want to plan another trip to go back and really see it all.  But our main mission was Napa, so we said goodbye to San Francisco and headed north to wine country...

Riley Bug and Packing

Thursday, August 09, 2012

Today marks a year since I found our sweet little Riley roaming a parking lot in Enid, Oklahoma.  While it might not have been the best time to bring home another dog (a week before we were set to move across the country), it was a blessing in disguise.  I'm so happy that no one ever called to claim her because she has brought so much joy into our little family.  Happy adopt-a-versary Riley :)

In other news, I'm trying to pack for our San Fran/Napa trip.  I'm notorious for being an overpacker.  I'd much rather have options and be over prepared than pack a carry on and end up not having everything I need.  And while I've gotten a little better over the years, it's still a struggle.  I see a bagging fee in my near future.

As you can see, the weather is going to be oh so pleasant!  Lows in the 50's?!  I can't remember when it was that cold down here in Florida.  It will be perfect "fire pit at night" weather.  And I'm so excited to get to wear some of my blazers and scarves that have been neglected the past few months.  Here's to hoping I can pack as well as this girl...

The Carneros Inn

Monday, August 06, 2012

When Jon and I were thinking about where we wanted to go for our belated second anniversary trip, we initially thought of somewhere tropical.  We honeymooned in St. Thomas and absolutely love any place with a beautiful beach.  However, after several people recommended Napa, I decided to do a little research and see what it had to offer.  I wasn't too keen on the idea at first, but then I found The Carneros Inn.  Right away, I could tell is was a picturesque place perfect for relaxation.  And while Jon and I do love the beach, we also live right next to one so trying something new sounded like a good idea.

The Carneros Inn is made of up of little cottages placed right next to a vineyard and breathtaking views.

We'll be staying in one of the Harvest Cottages, which features its own private patio complete with a firepit (for roasting s'mores!) and an outdoor tub.  What could be more relaxing?

There are a couple of restaurants on the property including FARM and Boon Fly Cafe.

I will be partaking in Boon Fly's famous donuts.

They also have a market at the resort where you can stock up on s'more kits and sandwiches before you head off on a picnic via one of their adorable bikes.

And we'll obviously be enjoying lots of vino and relaxing by their stunning pool.

Oh my goodness.  I can hardly wait!

{The Carneros Inn}
A week from tomorrow, Jon and I will be heading here to relax!  Can't.  Wait.

{October in the Big Apple}
I'm going back here with a couple of my girlfriends to experience fall in my favorite city!

Her classy style strikes again.  And this time with a color VERY similar to my mom's bathroom.

{Watercolor wedding invitation suite}
Sadly, I don't know who created this ensemble.  But it's gorgeous nonetheless.

I just discovered this talent, and she is amazing.
